Enthusiasm is contagious. Which is a blessing since I needed a good dose. Yesterday I connected with a student animator from Texas A&M, he’s interested in producing the trailer. We had a long conversation, his enthusiasm was refreshing. He likes the big picture, the theme of Primis and how his animation could connect people to the story. How invigorating after weeks of hitting my head on closed doors.

Suddenly I feel an infusion of energy in this project, I’m seeing possibilities, my battery just went from 5% to 100%. Positive enthusiastic people are out there, among students it’s more common. It’s why I love working with them. This is why leading tech companies elevate them to key positions. You can teach skills, attitude and enthusiasm are inherent. This is the team culture I want to build, an environment where creativity flourishes. There’s a consistent theme behind most all of the leading start-ups, a leader with a team who share a common passion.

Passion is what drives me past rejection. I heard back from a handful of college directors and professors who weren’t interested. Unwilling to even pass the opportunity to their students. Along the way I’m reminded of the value of pressing on. After exhausting my search for trailer producer candidates among the country’s top 20 film schools, I shifted to animation schools adding another 20. I remained hopeful but also thinking next steps (going international) if the rejection continued. When effort pays off, it’s a reminder that success is typically a result of persistence. A good thing to remember as I approach agents and publishers.

Speaking of rejection, my search for a humanoid robot partnership has gone nowhere. I started with 12 contenders eliminating 4 immediately. They were Chinese companies. I don’t think they’d want to work on a project where China is the story villain. I haven’t heard back from the other 8 but as I’ve done with the trailer, I’ll dig deeper.

Podcasting is my next promotional effort, just finished an interview to serve as a guest for a podcast called Spirituality with a Twist, originating from Australia. I have a different one scheduled for end of November. These are both, faith based, I’d also like to connect with sci-fi podcasts. Most sci-fi podcasts fall into one of 2 categories. Either they’re big-name podcasts reaching thousands, looking for guests like Elon Musk or they’re beginners watched by their 10 friends. I’m seeking something in the middle.
