When God performs miracles in your life, you have a story to tell. That’s my case, it’s why I’ve been writing my 1st book. The book isn’t about the miracles (there were two). The book was born from my desire to spread His good news, to evangelize. I’ve witnessed firsthand how God can pull you up from the darkest of places. There are millions who need what I received. Plus, I believe when we receive blessings, we have an obligation to share our story of His love, given freely to us all.
Up until the miracles, my idea of evangelizing was waiting for someone to approach me and ask me to tell them about God. Surprise, that never happened and never will, I needed a Plan B. Back in High School I wrote a few sports articles for the school paper. When my mom read them, you would have thought I was Pulitzer bound. I remember her telling me I should be a writer. Mom said lots of crazy things over the years but here I am 50 years later struggling to become a published author. Mom is smiling down from above.
I pondered the best way to reach people with God’s message, without hitting them over the head with the bible. A compelling Christian themed sci-fi action adventure focused on artificial intelligence was what I settled on. My role model here was my favorite author, Tom Clancy. My goal, weave a drama based on current world events where AI develops sapient, sentient, self-aware autonomy, then explore how that entity would deal with the concept of God.
It’s almost done, I’m at the final chapters, been at this almost 2 years. Yes, I know, most authors take 4-8 months to write a book. This is my side job, full time I’m a Multi-family Development Director. Finding an hour or two to write at nights, after a job that saps your energy to the core, well let’s just say you must be driven. And persistent.
The road to this point has been interesting so I’ll share this endeavor starting from the beginning on a daily blog. If you’ve ever considered writing a book or tackling a huge challenge, I think you’ll find this worth your time. I’ll make this interactive as well, feel free to send me questions, I’ll answer in my blog.
For now, I’ll share the one thing that has kept me going and will see me thru to successful completion – Faith. So, what does that mean? Here’s what I have taped to my bathroom mirror:
